Day 6 Statistics from City Streets, East Windsor:

We’ve made it to the halfway point of the TDDoC with a return to East Windsor. Like any endurance event the first half is always the easiest, now the real work begins. Tonight’s venue was chosen, or perhaps ramrodded, to be close to the greater West Windsor area. City Streets does hold the overall lead at 12 as most visited bar in the 13 year history of the TDDoC so a night here was inevitable. Tonight’s spot came down to a choice between City Streets and the Americana Diner. A push was made to return to Americana to hit Karaoke night; however, a call to Americana revealed that they have dropped Karaoke. Something about dropping it because of complaints of the overly passionate duet performed by two middle-aged men three years ago. Please refer to the TDDoC 2007 photo album for further details. Eman called Scugi earlier in the morning to let him know it was at Americana. Scugi did go there, had two beverages, didn’t see anyone else, then finally realized he was duped. When he arrived at City Streets he claimed he deserved two points which of course was flat out denied. More on points controversy later.

I arrive to find Ska, Howard Jones, and Jeff on the near side of the bar. Randy and Reese were on the other side. Apparently Jeff is from Barnes and Noble and worked with Gman there years ago. I have always had my doubts that Gman actually worked at B&N but Jeff does corroborate the story. Michelle D. shows up after missing the last two years with husband Larry (NCP) in tow. The Eman & Gman families trickle in as well as others. Conservations continue about cell phone batteries, texting, Facebook and various other technologies. At one point the whole group has their cell phones out texting all their real friends. Howard Jones is really fretting about losing in TDDoC points to a baby (Andrew Gman). Apparently Englishmen are really competitive in drinking contests. If they were this competitive back in 1776 perhaps we would all be drinking tea while celebrating the Thirteen Days of Boxer Day. Because he has a shred of dignity and is ashamed to have less points than a 14 month old, unlike a nameless crack pipe wielding person, HoJo did the only honorable TDDoC thing and challenged Andrew to a footrace on Day 12. Andrew is lulling HoJo into a false sense of security with rather short legs, an awkward gait, and nonsensical baby talk, but he has been covertly training ever since he heard about this tradition on Day 1, in case some upstart wanted a smackdown. HoJo, Andrew (in baby talk) says ”Its ON”.

Another points discussion pops up. Reese mentions that she had returned to Big Fish later the previous night with Mertz dressed as Santa Claus. It’s instantly assumed that she’s asking for a second point, which she wasn’t. However, the additional point is denied none the less. Self proclaimed “Points Czar” Gman declares that all points controversies as well as Rookie of the Year (ROY) eligibility will be unilaterally decided by him. I believe its decided that Celeste, Reese and Howard Jones are the leading ROY candidates.

Discussions continued regarding TDDoC logistics and planning. How are these venues actually chosen? Who gets to chose? How come some places are visited year after year and some places are only hit once? When a new place is chosen how is it known to be good, does a scouting party go and investigate the new potential locale? Who keeps track of the points and how do they turn out so accurate? A theory surfaces that perhaps we are being watched and all actions are recorded casino style by outsiders who’s very existence is unknown and never revealed to the crowd of TDDoCers. This secret committee of outsiders has unimaginable powers. It’s just a theory which is not confirmed nor denied by anyone.

Night after night of drinking and eating at some of the most expensive establishments in Central Jersey is really taking a toll on finances. Ska comes up with a brilliant idea of setting up a TDDoC club account at your local bank. Just like the old fashioned Christmas club account you would deposit $10 a week throughout the year. This would leave you with $500 for next year’s TDDOC which might sound like a lot of money, however, if you attend all twelve days would only be $40 per day. Definitely not enough, TDDoC funding needs to go back to committee because there still is a major shortfall.

As we’ve reached the mid-point of 2010 TDDoC let it be noted that 12 members have had perfect attendance. Keep up the good work. For those who haven’t been coming out keep in mind that there are still many awards and accolades still up for grabs. For example, there still is no clear cut leader for the Coveted Purple Moose Award.
