DTBDRHH #10 -- 25 June 2010

Good day to all,

The DT Burning Daylight Rolling Happy Hour will be held on 25 June 2010.

Most of you are familiar with the concept, but for the record, a number of us will be cycling the canal paths between Washington Crossing and Lambertville-New Hope in attempt to hit a number of local establishments and return to the starting point before dark.

OK, that is the theory. In reality, we have never made it back by dark. Ever. But maybe, the tenth time is the charm. What are the details? See here:

START: We will be leaving Washington Crossing, NJ at 5PM from the park area along the Delaware River. That is LEAVING at 5PM, not standing around staring at each other wondering where Goettle is or how so many people ever though CPL actually had hair. Where to park/gather? Same as last year. We will be at the small parking lot a few hundred yards upstream from the more well-known gated lot.

RIDE: Head to the Washington Crossing bridge and cross into Pennsylvania. Use the bridge; no watercraft will be provided for general use. Stop at the the Washington Crossing Inn for the Coordination Briefing. After coordination, the Ride Leader will signal start and we will hit the trail and proceed to Havana in New Hope. Arrival at Havana is typically 615PM. There will be additional stops both before and after Havana, as usual, at the Ride Leader's discretion. Please, no whining.

SAG: Ride support is typically available. Ask to see the Logistics Officer, or check with your platoon leader.

HAZARDS: The trails are in exceptionally good shape this year. However, helmets are always a good idea, but this is left to each rider's discretion. Remember the recurring theme, "Everyone is responsible for themselves." In addition to the bad grammar, we have had reports of ninja attacks just north of PA32 on the tow path. Please dress accordingly.

Also, darkness has been know to be an issue from time to time. It is wise to equip your bike with some lights.

WEATHER: This is a rain or shine event. The expectation is for 82 deg F and partly cloudy at start time with widely scattered T-storms. So we have that going for us.

OTHER: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE is anyone to let Dorian know about this.

NON-RIDERS: You don't have to be riding to join us for this one. Just show up at the start, or Washington Crossing Inn, or Havana, and you will know where we are going next. It will be great to see you.

UPDATES: More on this important event as it develops. But if you want out just reply to me saying so, and it shall be done. Well, sort of, I will do my best.

Sincerely, In the Bonds, Buona Fortuna, and Eff Larry,

J. Ska
