Day 6 Stats by Su
Duhblinn Square.
As expected, Day 6 of the TDDoC brings out the best and the worst in people. The worst would be when a certain person who sometime is represented by a stick calling me an A-hole and beeping his horn as I responsibly tried to find a parking spot within the speed limit (apparently getting to the first drink on a Friday is VERY important). The best part of Day 6 was Art and Julie winning the Happy Hour $200 gift card and kindly sharing with anyone who wanted a free drink. When the announcement happened, Lisa and I were wondering who in their right mind would hang out at this fine establishment from 4-7pm to win the gift card. Oh it’s one of us? Now we are wondering who wouldn’t want to hang out in this place for an extended period.
Upon hearing that they would have to stay home with a sitter instead on hanging out in the a bar, Julian and Andrew performed a happy dance, as if they just scored the winning touchdown in the Superbowl. Julian informed us that his life had just gotten better because he would not have to endure another day at a bar. I guess McGuinn’s experience sent him over the top.
In a shocking occurrence, Walt and Xtine pull off a duel appearance, this is stunning because the Kaden family typically only accounts for a single point per year. We have not seen both Walt and Xtine at the same TDDoC event since 1997, hopefully it is not around 2027 when this happens again.
As we walked into Dublin Square with Tom and Lisa, we found that the top area was closed for a private party. Once again, Eman showed his true Christmas spirit by berating the hostess for not letting us go upstairs (we really need to get that first drink in him soon before he tackles the guy in the Santa suit collecting for the Salvation Army soup kitchen). Lisa, Gary and I walked passed him and pretended not to know him.
Conversations all around ranged from starting to write the History of the TDDoC to Yo finding a driver’s license which he was going to use to get into Dublin Square until he realized that he was too old to use a fake ID. At that point, he decided to toss the driver’s license back on the ground and stepped on it so that no one would ever find it… ‘damn I should do the right thing’ he said to himself and turned it in to the hostess who was still sobbing in the corner from the berating that Eman had given her 2 hours earlier. Once again, I was reminded of the true spirit of TDDoC.
My marriage was once again put a test during a conversation with Sophia, Russ, Pods and Reese because going out every night for 12 days is not enough. Gary asked me that if he died, which one of his friends I would date? At this point, I could tell that there was only one way to answer this question. He did not specify gender so I kindly informed me that I would pick Sophia. No other man could hold a candle to him so I would have to switch teams.
We were happy to see a lot of people in attendance today. I have seen Pods more this year than ever before. Rose is making a run for the Purple Moose Cup (I HAVE A THE SACRED CHALISE BUT NO ONE EVER TAKES IT… WHHHYYYY). Trent has lost his bid for the cup. He seems to think that performing volunteer works trumps hanging out in bars and getting points. He guessing that performing volunteer activities will have a more positive impact on his college app than proclaiming “I scored 12 points in the 2012 TDDoC”… well it depends on who is reading the application, but I will go out on a limb and say he is right.
