Day 4 Stats -- Hillbilly Hall

Day 5 Location: Larry’s Euro Bar (LEB), 965 New York Ave Trenton, New Jersey 08638

Day 4 Statistics from Hillbilly Hall, Hopewell, NJ:

For tonight’s TDDoC activities a brand new place is selected. Hillbilly Hall comes highly recommended by Pods as it was one of his old hangouts when he lived in Montgomery. To get there one is suppose to drive into Hopewell then make a turn down a dirt road that begins climbing high up into the mountains of Central Jersey. Following this road there are many deer, bear, elk, and other critter sightings. Hillbilly Hall is suppose to have a wide selection of critters on the menu such as possum, venison, muskrat, rabbit and other such vittles. Finally after what seemed like a 40 mile drive Hillbilly Hall is reached at the mountain top. Thankfully it was well lit and easy to find.

I enter the bar to find Tamps and Rebecca already there. Apparently the gas lines haven’t reached up to Hillbilly Hall and the oil trucks can’t make the mountainous climb because this place has no heat. It is freezing in the place. Tamps gets a fly in his beer which was to be expected since one of the reviews of the place warned to bring a flyswatter. The bartender brings Tamps a new beer and states that is was odd since it’s rare to see a fly in the bar. Tamps notes that he’s not surprised considering the prices they charge. The usual TDDoC crowd begins to arrive; Ska, Cole, Scugi, Sophia, Gman, Su. Most order some food and it is quickly noted that perogies are a specialty here and have been seen on the daily special board at every TDDoC location so far this year. Perhaps, we’re doing the Twelve Eating Days of Perogies (TEDoP). But the perogies will have to wait one more night. I had the chili which was quite good and Tamps graciously held off telling the chili joke until I finished. Reese, Celeste, and Celeste’s friend David arrive a little later.

Hillbilly Hall is a place that seems to be searching for an identity. It’s trying to be a country bar, a biker bar, a redneck bar, and just a family restaurant. OK, so it’s not trying to be a family restaurant as the sign entering the place says anyone under the age of 21 will be shot on sight. IDs will be checked, no exceptions, you know who you are. Somehow I’ve got the feeling that this policy is left over from the era when Pods hung out there. Tonight it’s trying to be a country place. It is line dancing night from 7 to 10 so they are playing both types of music, Country and Western. The average age of the line dancers is 78, making our group feel like a bunch of kids. Many of our group are interested in joining the line dancing until it is revealed that there is an admission fee of $4 to enter the dance floor. The bartender is pleased that we stay at the bar and she notes that if we weren’t here there would be no customers at the bar at all. She’s right. A little later one of the line dancers walks behind the bar and mixes her own drink while the bartender was off somewhere else. Sophia happens to be watching this and wonders if it is OK for anyone to serve themselves. She is eyeing the bottle Maker’s Mark bourbon and notes that it isn’t even behind the bar but on top of the bar on the other side. She could just walk over and pour her own drink. Fortunately, the bartender soon returns and the self-serve bar policy doesn’t need to be tested.

Reese and David both grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia and both were members of the same Catholic Church. Small world. Apparently they may have been the only two Catholics in the whole city. Meanwhile, we Italian boys from Jersey noted we didn’t know anyone who wasn’t Catholic growing up. Oh, and David’s name really isn’t Sneakers O’Toole. When I heard that yesterday it just sounded made up.

Other topics of conversation included the TDDoC email list, vacationing in western states, new rings, incompetent UPS drivers, guns, the Pulitzer Prize for stats writing, bathroom decorations, etc. This group really has a wide variety of interests. I’m told the ladies room had a short winking Santa inside while the men’s room had a hillbilly helmet vending machine.

Notably absent were the Emans. Apparently the PA chapter event was more intriguing than going to the Hillbilly Hall. Also absent was CPL. Now I’ve been coming out to TDDoC regularly for the past 4 or 5 years and I’ve never met anyone named CPL. So I really beginning to wonder if he actually exists or if the name is just made up. Also absent was Pods. Considering he recommended the place and it was his old hangout the prevailing thought was that he would make an appearance. It didn’t happen. No stories….

At the end of the night while getting ready to leave I get approached and asked if I’m writing the stats. I say “That’s the rumor”. “Well are you or aren’t you?” “Yes I am”. “OK, put down that we’re going to Big Fish”. I say, “That’s not the way it works, we’re going to LEB.” “No, if you’re writing stats you can put down whatever you want and you want to go to Big Fish, Right, Now put it down!” I say “That’s not the way it works we’re going to LEB, it’s already been decided.” “The secret committee got to you didn’t they”. “ I don’t know, I don’t know nothing about any committees, where’s the door, I got to go, Help!” Then the plotting begins, we’ve got to get the email list and take over control on the TDDoC. Stay tuned for further development.

Day 3 @ Bill's Olde Tavern

Day 4: Hillbilly Hall Tavern & Restaurant 203 Hopewell-Wertsville Road , Hopewell, NJ 08525 (609) 466-9856 13 miles from Rt 1 & Rt 295

Bill's Olde Tavern:

This place is old; I haven't been in here since the late 90s for some kind of DMSP thing. This was before Lockheed fired me and possibly before the TDDoC was even conceived. But I will tell you what...the place doesn't look to have changed. Perhaps they know "olde" is in the name and don't want to be accused of leading people on. Walking through the parking lot, Russ attempts to run me down with his Cadillac and that throaty sounding V8 it has. He is so macho. One day, maybe, I'll be that cool. I walk in and ask where the bar is and have to step over a table that is situated almost directly in front the doorway to the dining room. This is common in a busy restaurant but the dining room is empty on this chilly Tuesday evening. I give it no mind and find the bar room with Scugi and some others in attendance.

Scugi is first. He is always first. I'm pretty sure he may have been first back in 1997 when this thing started. He is probably the all time leader in "Why" calls. Mertz (who isn't there) does a lot of these too, but he is usually at the wrong bar, so it doesn't count. It seems like Eman (who hasn't arrived yet) sends many of these as well, but many of these are actually text messages and if you look closely if you will notice these are actually inadvertently forwarded messages from the public radio station WHYY. (Additional trivia, Terry Gross and Martie Moss-Coane have never earned TDDoC points).

Most of usual folks are there or arrive in quick time. And as usual, CPL is not there. He said he had a reason. It's true he does have a reason, but it isn't the reason he gave, nor has it ever been any of the ones he has ever give. He is just CPL, and that is reason enough. He does have a bike though. Eff CPL.

You know what is good about Bill's -- it has food. You know what people don't like about Bill's -- it has food. The have the same perogi available at Al's Airport Inn, which there, is quaintly charming, Not so much here. Also they have macaroni and cheese, which apparently is just a frozen Stouffers dumped on a plate, and only slightly heated. But they do have fried pickles. Why? I don't know.

But the bar room is great. In fact they have several bar rooms. You could have a pub crawl and never leave the property. We talked about it, but never actually left the room we were in. Why leave? We are all here. Inertia.

We a little disappointed to find that "tomorrow" there is free beer at Bill's. Every tomorrow, just not today, there is a sign. There is also a sign in the men's room stating that Bill's will have Kinky Quizzo. I don't know if that is a risque trivia game, or the name of a stand-up comic, or possibly some kind of communicable disease. Any way this goes, the photo is quite old (or olde, in this case) judging by the hairstyles and dress of those in the photos.

In a total elevation of ridiculousness, we are informed that coconuts do not migrate. I'll just leave it at that. But in a more casual elevation of the ridiculousness, the following conversation is overheard:

Reese: I'm originally from Lynchburg, Virginia
Celeste: My boyfriend, Sneakers O'Toole, is from Lynchburg Virginia.
Reese: Wait, your boyfriend is Sneakers O'Toole? He is my ex-husband and still owes me money for those hair plugs.

Admittedly, parts of this are clearly fabricated. But it leads us to a new game we will be playing this week. At some well timed point in any conversation simply say:
"Wait a minute...your boyfriend is Sneakers O'Toole. He is (or was) ______________________________________ and __________________________________________. Bastard.", filling in the blanks with blatantly ridiculous claims. The goal is new heights of ridiculousness.

I hope to talk to all of you at some point this week. But the truth is, I don't like people. But I'm trying.

The tally (we never did ask who is Bill):

Day 2 @ Dublin Square

Day 3 on Monday Dec 12, 2011 will be at Bill's Olde Tavern 2694 Nottingham Way Hamilton NJ (609) 586-0192, at five points across the street from Jo Jo’s.

Early arrivals at Dublin Square were, Scugi, Maria, and Sophia. They were seated at a table, dining on Irish/English fare. Art was talking to Frank and Cheryl at the next table. The Eastman’s arrived and were seated upstairs. We soon followed them upstairs. New TDDoCer, Duddy, was already at the bar making new friends. We huddled around the Eastman’s table, and the crowd grew. Rebecca invited a coworker Lin. Xtine, after years of absence returned. Pat Worth and Brandy brought their clan out for dinner. Donny, Lisa and their daughter Jenna made an appearance too. The Mechanic brought his wife out for her first point. Family members are always welcome. The TDDoC makes the perfect family holiday outing.

Sophia had to leave for choir. She is practicing with Michele for the upcoming “TDDoC Got Talent” contest that will happen later in the week. Mertz and Reese are some stiff competition in the Gregorian chant category. Ska, Cole and Russ were there. Russ is trying to figure out if he can sue the NJ Dept of Fish and Wildlife for the damages to his truck caused by a deer that hit it while his son was driving. It looks like Cole’s perfect attendance streak will come to an end next week. He is playing the Lasik card. G, Su, Bennie and his new wife stopped by after a previous engagement all dressed up. Celeste was late because she was casing out jewelry store for heist she is planning later this week. Yo, and the Milots also pointed.

The TDDoC is a great environment to work on your conversational skills. I was talking to a new TDDoCer, and they were telling of a conversation they were involved in. One person would cut off the other person saying “Too much detail”. I think that is a great way to tell a person to shut up when they are blathering on and on. I imagine the body motions that would go with it would be to hold your hand up signaling stop, then shake your head, and say “Too much detail”. So come out tonight to Bill’s Old Time Tavern and when you meet some new or old friends, and they start going on about some inane topic, put your hand up, shake your head and tell them, “Too much detail”.

Day One Stats -- Firkin

Day 2 (as in Friday) location: Dublin Square, Route 130 at 206, Bordentown.

Yes, it’s true, this year’s TDDOC will be exactly the same as last year. We’ve run out of ideas. Just be glad….first runner-up in the decision process was the Salt Creek Grille.

Firkin, firkin, what the firkin? Day 1 (not to be confused with Day 0, see below) was at the Firkin Tavern in West Trenton, one of the finest Irish pubs in the land (OK, well they have Guinness on tap so of course it’s an Irish pub.) Once again, the establishment of choice has a new rule that children are not allowed in the booths in the bar area. What hath happened? Is this some move afoot by the US Congress to prevent the TDDOC from training their next generation of revelers? A group takes up residence in the dining room alongside another large table of people (quite obviously the West Trenton chapter of the TDDOC). On the other side of the table is a super-creepy nearly life size Santa that apparently moves when there is movement or noise nearby. His movement is part dance, part walk, and part self pleasure. Do they sell female versions?

The Firkin has some cool menu items. Russ orders up the meatloaf cupcake. Yes, I’m serious, that is a menu item. It comes out, and lo and behold, it’s meatloaf in the shape of a cupcake with mashed potatoes shaped like icing on top. Who would have thought you could get Manhattan-style chef action in West Trenton. But the pièce de résistance was clearly the Irish nachos. What a delightful blend of potato chips, cheese, corned beef, and Russian dressing. It’s just so delicious……uh…….wait…..who ordered the large plate?......uh…..getting full……not tasting so good all of the sudden ……..ugh…..stomach churning….. Still feeling nauseous now thinking about them.

WHERE is the PA chapter?? This is supposed to be a joint night. Are they here? No one knows. Apparently once Donna and Dorian go on their annual X-rated lovefest in Disney, the whole PA chapter collapses under its own weight.

A large contingent of suit and tie wearers (all with essentially the exact same suit) comes in and orders a delicious round of Michelob Ultra and froofy drinks, and more importantly, sucks up major bartender attention. Clearly the day’s session at the Field Sales Conference has just let out. The suit/tie guys get angry staredowns from the TDDOC but to no avail. The TDDOC just hopes that when Bobo shows up, he’ll give them some angry pokes in the chest. Wait….are these guys the PA chapter?

Reese catches me at the bar and asks if I can get the bartender to change one of the TVs to the Steelers game. After standing at the bar for awhile waiting for the bartender to even give me the time of day, I figure the chance of him even granting my request is low, so I decide to appeal to his sense of pity. I said, “can you put the Steelers game on that TV please? My woman is really giving me a boatload of grief about watching it”. He gave me a knowing sympathetic nod and changed the channel right away.

Kaden shows up….Kaden! Seeing a Kaden appearance is nearly as rare as a Crack Pipe Larry appearance. Kaden is clearly now going through a midlife crisis as his hair is now longer than it’s been since he had the afro in college.

Mertz phones in from Day 0 location Isaac Newton’s. The only problem is that it’s Day 1. Excellent! Is it too late to get a point for last night? He then re-enters his time machine and shows up at tonight’s event at the Firkin. If he had just known where we’ll be the next 10 nights, he could have killed off the entire TDDOC in one evening.

BB is enraged that the Firkin dares to display a Magic Hat bar light without having any Magic Hat on tap. He threatens to order some irish nachos and make them into a Malatov cocktail, but then decides not to after realizing that the risk of nausea far outweighs the benefit..

Sophia leaves early to go to choir practice. She returns later with her friend Michelle, who was easily tricked into vowing she'll make all 12 days. Despite having a few drinks, and having just practiced their singing, Sophia and Michelle refuse to lead the group in a vigorous rendition of God Bless America at the bar. Whatever happened to patriotism?

Rebecca shows up late, fresh off her "treatment" at the Quakerbridge Mall. It was unclear exactly what the treatment was, and she was hesitant to say, but I'd suggest that you ask her about it tonight.

15th Annual TDDOC Kickoff

Ahhhhh, darkness at 4:30, freezing cold air, the sweet melodies of frequent noseblows, and inescapable Christmas music in every nook and cranny of the face of the earth....it must mean....it's time for....

THE 15th ANNUAL (EXCEPT 1998) FESTIVAL OF.....THE TWELVE DRINKING DAYS OF CHRISTMAS (TDDoC)!!! This year's theme (once again) is the economy. What could be more American than coming to a bar and spending your money on American alcoholic liquids and putting hops growers, potato growers, and grape stompers across the US back to work? Caution….some of those alcoholic liquids have been produced by non-American companies in France. Please discourage your co-revelers from drinking non-American.

START DATE: THURSDAY, DEC 8

LOCATION: Firkin' Tavern, West Trenton, NJ (a hop skip but no jump from route 1 corridor), www.firkintavern.com. Legendary traditional (in other words, really lame) Day 1 spot Charlie Brown's is yet still closed due to repair or perhaps bankruptcy due to all of the raisin bread stolen from the salad bar over the years by Crack Pipe Larry. Rejoice that the Day 1 location has been chosen and advertised this early. This will be the last time during this event that you will be this happy.

Now for the details. For those that are new to the TDDoC, I've included the following Guidelines. For those that are familiar with the TDDoC format, you may still want to re-acquaint yourself. It's not as easy as riding a bike. It's almost as easy as drinking, but not quite.

Guidelines

1. For the purpose of the Festival, working days in which you could drink AFTER WORK are considered "Drinking Days". (I know that the term "Drinking Days" causes some controversy every year as it is easily and often argued that every day is a "Drinking Day"). Traditionally the Festival begins on the date that allows 12 "Drinking Days" to occur prior to Christmas Day - This year it's the 8th of December. Unlike other chapters throughout the country (especially those in the greater San Jose area and west of the Delaware River in general), there will be no special exceptions due to plant closings, postal holidays, moon/earth alignments or other such nonsense. The twelfth day of the event will as always occur on Dec. 24 (except this year, when it will occur Dec. 23; yes these rules are extremely rigid as always).

2. Attendance is scored by showing up and drinking with your friends, colleagues, soon-to-be-friends, other peoples' neighbors, and assorted annoying bores. Any action to discourage someone from showing up simply because they have bad breath, poor eating manners, or are a pompous a$$ is severely frowned upon. This is good fodder for the stats (see guideline # 7). However, unwillingness to imbibe can of course be held as a strike against any otherwise worthy candidate. Agreeing to participate in an "a$$-off" is generally considered as a reasonable substitute for drinking, unless you are a man.

Tradition has it that there is a one-drink minimum to be awarded a Point. Anyone on travel during The 12 Days & gathering in the spirit of The 12 Days will, of course, be considered participants if they 1) are actually drinking and 2) submit Stats. Please note that the official TDDOC definition of "considered" is "not considered". Phoning in alone does not enable point awardance but is highly encouraged to aid the home team in stats preparation. Drinking by yourself does not count, and drinking with some casual loser work friend if that loser is not involved in the larger effort does not count either. If you want a point for drinking with that casual loser work friend, you will need to drag them out to multiple mainstream TDDOC events in order for your miserable time with them to count. Whoever has the highest Tally of Points on Day Twelve will be awarded a coveted TDDoC trophy, and, as always, be obligated to abuse those that fell short in their quest to be the champion for their lameness. Never mind that said trophy has NEVER been awarded. It sounds good on paper. Note that in lieu of said trophy, the ceremonial "knocking of the sconce" off the wall at the Day 12 location may be substituted.

Far and away the most significant value of the point system is to incur repeated heated discussions, fisticuffs, and "airing of the grievances". Please keep this in mind and argue about points that you "should have had" as often as possible. Another good source of argument is whether or not Mike Tyson was the greatest heavyweight champion ever. Please register for the debate with Gary C. Williams.
Penalty points: If a TDDOC member shall drive within 100 yards of the night's location on the way home without stopping, that member shall forfeit all points and be subject to a NUTKX (see section 8).

3. Any adult-beverages consumed outside these events (weekends, from the bottom-drawer at work, at breakfast.. .) is regarded as Practice for The 12 Days and will not be scored. However, as in any hard-core sporting event, practice is highly encouraged.

4. Events are to be held in a different pathetic central NJ (or perhaps other states, as long as they are east of the Delaware river) establishment each of The 12 Days. Suggestions for events at further-away locations are, as always, highly encouraged, and yet, as always, highly unlikely.

5. Invitees are by no means limited to those addressed in this initial distribution. This is an open invitation. Any stiff that you can drag out is more than welcome. Participants should also encourage breakout chapters in other sections of the country. Once again, the San Jose CA chapter will also be in full working order, and rumor has it that another chapter may have been chartered west of the Delaware. Unfortunately, due to complications from Sarbanes-Oxley, the OJ Simpson legal trial, and public campaign for Congo the dog, the Dulles VA chapter, despite having received a $20 billion subsidy from the US government, still cannot square up on previous bar bills and is defunct. There are allegedly Facebook pages for other chapters throughout the country, but be forewarned! These are really embedded viruses that when clicked upon will cause you to be pummeled with email nonstop from a collection of raving lunatics. Wait, that may be this email distribution list. Either way, do NOT click on these sites.

6.Family events, work parties, watching Alf re-runs, having to "wash your hair" that night, removal of bodily organs (aka "the kidney card"), spending time with loved ones, being forced to move to Virginia, etc. are to be considered POOR excuses for missing TDDoC events. These may be important during other parts of the year but during the TDDoC festivities, please try to focus on what is really important, i.e. "Where are we drinking tonight?".

7. Which brings us to the daily Stats.
a) Stats are to be published the following day, with enough time to prepare for that day's event (i.e. before/during lunch), by an elected or forced stat-writer. This responsibility traditionally rotates between participants. Amendments and/or additions to the original published Stats are not only welcome but, in fact, encouraged (Different points of view can be awfully amusing). HOWEVER, rebuttals should stick to the general topic of TDDoC and the stats. Using the distribution list for sharing of personal jokes, "cool" youtube videos, and/or naked pictures of one's own butt are highly discouraged and the author will be placed on distribution for every internet junk e-mail list possible.
b)The Stats have generally been a free-form record - Including, but not limited to, the night's activities (should at least cover the basics, where when who etc), discussion topics (politics, sports, fashion, WHATEVER), liquids consumed (cooking/dipping oils and food condiment consumption are especially welcome here) and any patriotic songs sung. Generally, any photographic records of karaoke versions of "Darling Nikki" are highly discouraged.
c)Stats include an announcement/proposal as to where the next night's gathering is to be.
d)Stats include the running Point Tally.(stat writer's personal choice on whether points from the legendary Glenn Burtnick concert at Altamont in '69 should count or not)
e)Stats are an ideal forum to introduce Suggested Topics for that night's discussion. Throw out a topic or two you (the scribe) would like to see tabled during the night's activities. This of course may (and likely will) be completely ignored. Of course, if the word "scribe" is used at any point, you may risk being beat senseless with an empty beer bottle or an "Eman on a stick".
f)Stats of course need not be true!! Embellishment and downright manufacture of the details is highly encouraged!
g) Note: Use of the word "scribe" itself is highly discouraged in East Coast chapters. Please see (e) again.
H) One more thing: For the love of g0d, please do something stupid, loud, obnoxious or disgusting to help out your local stat writer with material.

8. WHYYY?? call: It is standard for the first person who shows at that night's event to vent their frustration from having to sit at the bar by themselves like a huge loser by calling another participant on their cell phone and yelling "WHY????" into the phone, which is of course short for "WHY am I drinking alone?". Per custom, it is encouraged to then hang up the phone prior to allowing the recipient of the phone call to respond in any manner. No special bonuses are awarded for this other than the personal satisfaction of taking out your societal anger on an unsuspecting other party. Anyone caught making a bogus "WHYYY??" call (NOT the first one at the bar, NOT alone at the bar, or NOT even at the bar) may be subjected to a "NUTKX", which is a Windows Vista software module which will provide the user with a swift kick to the privates upon next logon to work computer as punishment for violation of important social norms. NUTKX may also be provided manually by the recipient of the bogus WHYYY?? call or by the bartender. WHYYY???? text messages, facebook/twitter updates, and/or instant messages are similarly not acceptable and will quickly be faced with a stern poke in the chest from the tallest person in attendance.

9. Contests, competitions, shenanigans: Contests such as no-repeat beer quest (not repeating a brand/style of beer for the entire 12 days), no-repeat tequila shots, drinking your drink out of another's shoe, duels at 20 paces, and of course footraces are highly encouraged. No special points will be awarded for most "shushings" (i.e. being told by an old lady that you're too loud and need to quiet down).

10. Alleged celebrity sightings: Always encouraged, always highly unlikely. It is believed that there has been only a single alleged celebrity sighting in the history of the TDDoC: the alleged sighting of Lilleth from Cheers in the Main Street Bistro circa 1999. Please try for more, and if encountered do your best to engage them in either (1) drinking heavily or (2) mean-spirited fisticuffs.

11. Hard liquor of the day: The first person at the bar (or first person that cares to do so) is encouraged to name a hard liquor of the day, and all are encouraged to imbibe in said liquor at some point during the evening, be it in a mixed drink, shot, straight up, or pouring it over one's own head. Shouts of "ALRIGHT, WHERE'S THE HARD LIQUOR?" (copyright The TEH Foundation) should of course accompany said activity.

12. Pre-season: According to Tamps, there is no pre-season and no points for any efforts shall be awarded….according to Tamps. I'm just sayin'.

13. Privacy Notice: Any hopes of privacy are limited at best, and everyone is responsible for themselves (copyright the DT Foundation).

So, without further adieu, clear out your calendar and load up your office desk drawer with hangover remedies!!

11th annual DT Burning Daylight Rolling Happy Hour

As advertized, the DTBDRHH #11 will occur on 24 June 2011 starting at 5:00 PM EDT from Washington's Crossing State Park in Titusville, NJ.

As a number of you are new to this event, we will bring back the familiar and ever popular Q&A format.

Q: What is DTBDRHH #11.
A: It is the 11th annual DT Burning Daylight Rolling Happy Hour. This is a bicycle ride starting at Washington Crossing SP and proceeds across the bridge into Pennsylvania and then heads north to New Hope-Lambertville stopping at various establishments en route to and while in New Hope-Lambertville. At some to be determined time, we will head south from Lambertville back to our starting point. The ride takes place primarily on the Delaware Canal tow path in Pennsylvania, and the D&R Canal tow path in New Jersey, though at times we will be on some local streets.

Q: OK. I understand part of the name. Why Burning Daylight?
A: Originally it was envisioned that the ride would finish up at the starting point as darkness fell. But the main group of cyclists has NEVER completed the ride before it gets dark. And well, after it gets dark, it doesn't get any darker so the ride tends to finish much later than sunset.

Q: How much later?
A: It will be dark by 9PM. We have returned anywhere from 10PM to as late as midnight. But all are free to depart from the main group at any time.

Q: So I should prepare to be riding in the dark if I stick with the main group?
A: Yes. If you have a light for your bicycle you should have it ready. And for some of you clutzes, a helmet isn't a bad idea either.

Q: Who are you calling a clutz?
A: You know who you are. Truth is, only one person has been injured ever. He is just a hazard.

Q: It is not Art, is it?
A: It is NOT Art.

Q: I think you should tell me who it is.
A: That isn't a question.

Q: What if I don't ride, can't ride, or just want to stalk someone that I know will be riding. Can I still participate?
A: YES! Many people just come to the various happy hour locations. We have a schedule that we hold to early, then we make known the next location and when during the evening, so this is never a problem. Current plan:
5:00PM - DEPART Washington Crossing State Park, NJ. This is a hard start at 5PM, come much later, and you will be chasing us.
5:10PM - Arrive Washington Crossing Inn, Washington Crossing, PA for team "synchronization" and team assignments.
5:30PM - Depart for tow path to New Hope.
TBD - Possible "resyncronization".
6:30PM - Arrive Havana, New Hope. (Typically a little earlier)
TBD - Depart for Logans Inn. Time is at Ride Leader's discretion.
Other stops (times TBD): New Hope #3, Lambertville Station, Inn of the Hawke. Any changes will be communicated to all participants

Q: What if there is some difficulties? Or mechanical issues?
A: We will have a SAG wagon to help out. Of course, we try not to leave anyone behind, but ultimately, in the words of wise man,"Everyone is responsible for themselves."

Q: What does DT stand for?
A: Shut up.

Q: Is there a pre-ride?
A: Who told you about that?

Q: That isn't an answer.
A: The pre-ride is a myth. It is merely a story about some brave cyclists who ride when others cannot. It is meant to inspire. But it does not exist. And besides, no credit would be given.

Q: No credit? What does that even mean?
A: Look, I don't have all day. I'm very busy. Some things you just need to find out for yourself. But if you have any further questions, just send me an email.

There will be additional communication as the time approaches.
