East Coast Day 5 -- Big Fish, Stats by Ska

Day 6 will held at City Streets Cafe

510 Route 130 South
East Windsor, NJ 08520
609 426 9400

The Big Fish. It's like going home. A really dysfunctional kind of home, with bad plumbing, abusive step-parents, but with big sister who at least cares a little bit. (Actually, Julian thinks Tamp and I actually live there.) We love to hate the Fish and keep going back because that hatred is what keeps us warm on these cold December evenings. So we went back because it has been colder than usual and needed re-stoke that hatred.

I am usually really angry by this point in the TDDoC run because I have usually had it up to here with you people. I must be mellowing with age. Turn-out was good and it was nice to see everyone. I really don't like all of this me being pleasant crap. It makes for horrible stats. I'm still angry with CPL, zero points. What a horse's @$$! He couldn't come tonight, he was coaching some kind of basketball team. What the? Basketball? He knows less about the game then Eman! And it's not like it is out of his way, he has to pass the BF to get home! Jack wagon. Okay, I feel a little better after that mini-tirade.

Back to the Big Fish. A lot of beer being drank and bar pizza being eaten. Knicks-Celts on the TV (Knicks lose at the buzzer, twice). The usual list of interesting and not so interesting stuff being discussed:
  • People recounting stories of the first and most recent times they were cut-off at a bar. It turns out Randy isn't as mild mannered as he might appear. (interesting)
  • And Eman has been elected to be in charge of stamping out evil down in the Burlington Township youth baseball league (interesting)
  • Russ and Ska discussing cell-phone batteries (not interesting, also demented and sad, but still social)
  • The physics of inverted pyramids, one of Tamp's favorites (interesting? Jury still out)
  • Lisa E discussing recent mayoral election results in C-ville (super interesting!!)
I could go on but lists themselves become uninteresting after about six entries.

At some point the subject of "Where's Mertz?" comes up. It always comes up. Wherever we are. Whenever it is. It dates back to when Lockheed was in East Windsor and a lot of they guys used to actually work for Mertz and they were trying to avoid him. I never worked for Mertz; but I do remember the Systems Engineers coming down to Bay 2/3 to hide from him. (Keith, there was always a half-dozen of them in the STAF area bothering Nick). I feel it has been long enough that I can bring it up now.

In short Mertz was at choir practice. But practice, in our opinion, was running long. We had visions of the choir director just yelling at Mertz. Reese, also at practice, was smart enough to book her point by coming out before practice. Good TDDoC logistic (compare CPL, eff him). Of course she was at practice completely blotto.

Anyway, discussion about how Mertz' now white beard is like Santa's but much shorter, like some kind old salt or man of the sea kind of thing. It is at this point, Gerry (who I just met, though I have seen him out a few other nights, and to be honest I thought he was some guy stalking us) reveals a photo of Mertz in a Santa suit. Then no more then 45 seconds after this photo was revealed, Mertz comes through the door in a Santa suit. A Christmas miracle! God bless us, everyone!

So once again I am the last customer at the Fish, and I help put the bar stools up. Well, I do live there AND I hate it. Ah, Christmas time.

East Coast Day 4 -- Rats, Stats by Reese

Day 5 will be at the Big Fish Bistro in the Market Fair

3535 U.S. Route 1
Princeton, NJ 08540
(609) 919-1179

Rat’s

My GPS tells me to turn through a warehouse. That can’t be right, can it? Oooooh look a sign! Yay! Driving, driving, UPS fence, turn around, find parking lot..enter building, now must find bar. The hostess tries to steal my coat from me, to which I insist I really do want to keep it, and leads me down a windy path to the bar. The lights are dim, the walls and ceiling swathed in red fabric, beads on the windows, and lanterns hanging. There’s even a little harem tent complete with fireplace, pillows, and a mattress – alas, I left my seven veils at home.

The few bar stools are full, I’d convinced a friend to come out for the first time to TDDoC, I see that we’re the first to arrive, so we scope out a small table in the back near other tables and sit down. A waiter expeditiously came over and said “Are you here for happy hour?” “Yes we are!” “Oh, you can’t sit here then. You have to go over there “ So we move. A short while later Rebecca walks in, and I think I recognize her but don’t dare wave since I’d waved and smiled at Scugi at Jo-Jos and he looked at me, then turned the opposite direction and sat down at the bar (I cried, all alone in the corner from the humiliation). Tamps walks in and he and Rebecca somehow sweet talk the place into letting them set up camp in the back and some non TDDoC-ers sit down at the table, so we get our food in BT Bistro sized portions and wander back to the forbidden zone as soon as possible.

Its quiet for awhile. Gman, Su, and crew arrive, and more and more people start trickling in. Conversation is in hushed tones, there aren’t raucous bursts of laughter, and there are more wine glasses and brandy snifters in TDDoC hands than ever before in the history of TDDoC. There are the usual conversations: football, how frickin cold it is outside, where are Celeste and Polo anyway (Polo must have been in the bathroom the whole time, since she wasn’t in the bar), look at Scugi and Dorian in the harem tent…

All too quickly, the time of way higher prices arrives, and many take their leave of the establishment, and the bar clears out to where there are only TDDoC-ers and a random couple in the harem tent. While four of us are sitting at a table talking about wine in the required sophisticated and inoffensive tones, Celeste walks in and shouts that she has arrived. Pat is grilling Ska about the “secret committee” that decides what the next night is, and how this place was chosen, to which Ska repeatedly neither confirms nor denies the existence of such a committee, albeit with a mischievous grin. If however, tonight is magically someplace other than Big Fish, which was much spoken of as the place people wanted to go, there may be some truth to Pat's theory....

The hour has grown to the late, late hour of 9:30, and there are just a few loyal TDDoC-ers left, conversations have gotten a little louder, Yo and Sandor have been in the harem tent for awhile and many fear they have fallen asleep (why was it that only the men went into the tent....?) , allegations are made that the women are carrying sex toys in their purses, and in walks Mertz x 2. No sooner do they get their drinks and sit down does the bartender turn the lights up high and kick us all out – 10:01 on the dot, making the email prophecies of us all getting kicked out come true. Not even pubs in England close this early! Since Rat’s was a resounding example of what happens when you think outside of the box, tonight will be at a traditional Wednesday night TDDoC, the Big Fish.

In attendance were: Andy, Felicia, David, Tamps, Rebecca, Scugi, Dorian, Russ, Yo, Gman, Su, Eman, Lisa, Trent, Denise, Chaty, Pat, Sandor, Gina, Mertz, Cory Mertz, Reese, Ska, Rose, Cole, Shannon (Reese's friend).

East Coast Day 3 -- JoJo's, by Tamp

Polo said she would come out if we went to Rats, so Rats it is for Day 4 Tuesday December 14th.

Ramrodded location by the ETS crew (Celeste and Polo)… score!!!

Rats Restaurant - Grounds for Sculpture
16 Fairgrounds Road
Hamilton, NJ 08619

Yes again we find ourselves on a Monday night at JoJo’s. There was doubt that it would be a good choice with the Giants playing on Monday night, but upon arrival, there was plenty of space in the tavern. Of course there was no parking in their lot, so everyone parked at other local businesses. When I got there, Pat Werth, Scuggi, and Reese were there. I joined Reese at a table and quickly ordered a pie. Delicious as always. The Gmans and Emans families were there, with a special appearance by Cory. Pizza was the choice for everyone, everyone except the Emans. Tom refuses to even have JoJo’s pizza at his table when he is there. There was only one of the Corys there last night, giving Reese a point up on Cory M in the RoTY competition. There was the annual appearance by Dave U, who could have been the Mayor of Hamilton at one time with all the people that he knew at Jo Jo’s. Cole’s quest for “all 12” remains on pace. He an Russ split a pie at the bar. Rose is also maintaining perfect attendance this year.

The bar filled up and we were in the way all night. I think I may have danced with a woman going to the bathroom. At least she was dancing when I was in her way and really had to go.

I had a opportunity to talk to Laura when I noticed she had some left over pizza from her bar pie. When that was done, she headed home and I join a small group in conversation. Chatty said that everyone was going home. I come to find out that “everyone” was the women. All the old guys were staying. It was nice to see an appearance by Sandor. He joined us “Old RCA” guys.

It is time to venture out to some place new. We are going to class this party up a bit and go to Rats. Get there early and drink fast while the prices are good and before we get thrown out for talking to loud. Mulled Wine is only $3! Poutines for all my friends!

Day 2 Stats: AWOL Ramrodder

Let's hear from Goettle:

Day 2 - Dublin Square stats by Goettle

What’s going on in the world these days? Our gov’t is spending money as if they have the power to print it. We’re politically schizophrenic (or maybe it’s schizophrenically political). The words of a former beauty pageant contestant who quits her public job at the half-way point of her term, whose teenage daughter becomes pregnant and then speaks to her fellow teenagers of the virtues of abstinence – this former beauty pageant contestant’s (it’s not g-man) words are written down and transmitted as if they are unquestioned pearls of wisdom. Clean wholesome TV shows - a thing of the past – replaced by reality shows which are not real in any sense. Day 1 stats come out more than a few days late. The Most Interesting Man In The World is forced to take on a second job at ETS. And I’m told that a Ramrodder - I won’t use any real names, let’s just choose some random, made-up name that in no way could ever be connected with the doer of the dastardly deed – how about Alterway Adenkay – yes, this Ramrodder for the Day 2 location doesn’t even bother to show up. Ramrodding and going AWOL – I’m sure I speak for everyone who has ever participated in a TDDoC event – just SICKENS me.

All of these things should make us sit up and take note. I know they have me a bit rattled, and in scary, unpredictable times like these, don’t we all become “situationally religious”? And in situations like these, what better place to turn than to prayer. And, as we are a Christian nation of Christians, Protestants, Catholics, and other Christian religions like the pesky Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Wiccans, Agnostics, Atheists, and Homosexuals along with numerous other less important Christian sects, we will pray to Him and ask Him to come to our aid, unless He is too busy feeding the hungry, clothing the naked (hopefully, not too many hot chicks or at least not with too many clothes), and healing the sick and infirm. So here’s the prayer – it’s borrowed from a recent ex-President – one who thinks the word “nuclear” is spelled with a “q”.

Dear Jesus, through whom all possible things could happen. In this season of drinking and revelry, please let us continue down the road of tolerance and understanding and acceptance of those not like us. And we ask you to smite, with your mighty Sword of Tolerance, anyone who would think differently, since (except for the ones with rabies) we are a peaceful nation of men, women, and pets. Amen.

I can’t speak for the rest of you, but I feel like an immense burden has been lifted and get on with the serious business of being serious. As a result of the intensive lobbying, cajoling, and arm-twisting – some might say “ramrodding” - of one Alterway Adenkay (again, his name has been changed to protect his identity so don’t even bother looking him up in the Bordentown phone book), Dublin Square is chosen as the Day 2 locale. It is fine place, serving some of the finest beers and whiskeys along Rte 130. I arrive late, so these stats will be far from complete, and as I drive around an impressively full parking lot, I run into a departing Scugi, who informs me that they are all downstairs on their way upstairs. Much to my pleasure, upon entry, I immediately run into Ska and Tamp and in short order spot Eman, TrentE, LisaE, Gman, REBECCA, Chaty, Art, Mertz & Son, Polo, Cole, Billionaire Pat Wirth, Celeste, Russ, Katherine, Su, Benny (alas, without the Jets), Rose, BIG LOU, the current reigning “Most Interesting Man In The World” ( http://www.themostinterestingmanintheworld.net/the-most-interesting-man-in-the-world-quotes-top-10/ ) - and many other folks whose names escape me.

Drinking and talking and talking and drinking, eating, darts-throwing, and learning feats of magic from none other than the Most Interesting Man In The World - this pretty much sums up how we spent our time at Dublin Square. While the drinking and talking and the like were of conventional nature, the dart-throwing was not of your father’s ilk. This was not “throw the darts at the board” and see who has the highest score like the social butterfly jackwagons do in mamby pamby land. For this game our two most real men – Cole and Mosso – line up three paces apart and throw darts AT EACH OTHER. And the winner isn’t judged merely by who can turn the other guy into a pin cushion. It’s who can tolerate the deepest dart penetration in the eye. The first few eye hits didn’t make me cringe too much, but when these two real men started plunging the darts more than feather deep into their own eyes until I saw the point emerge from the back of their heads, well, let me just say, I’ve never seen anyone administer a self-lobotomy in such a crowded place. If Cole starts writing TDDoC stats soon, I’d say the operation was a success.

And one nice feature of the Dublin Square are the private areas just off the bar. The rooms have a TV, nice leather couches, and a cozy fireplace. When one of the rooms becomes vacant, Eman and I seize our chance to get away from the crowds and the tedium and nestle together in front of the roaring fire – that is until 3 other people barge into our lair and rudely intrude into our intimate conversation of “who’s playing the football game on TV” and “what’s the score” and “you had me at hello”. (Oh, well, E-man, we’ll always have Day 2.) We go back to join the throngs and chat with our friends from ETS. And there, from Polo, who I like to call the “anti-Palin”,we learn a pearl of wisdom of such profundity that it must be shared with all of you: “In life, nothing is irreversible”. Examples of it abound everywhere: in your car, you have a gear that, when engaged, enables your vehicle to traverse in the OPPOSITE DIRECTION; when you’re reading a book with a complicated story, you can always RETURN TO EARLIER PAGES, to review aspects of the tale; and if you are playing a game of darts with Cole or Mosso, you can always PULL THE DART OUT OF YOUR EYE.

Thank you, Polo, I think you just answered our prayer.

(Thanks Goettle for the recap. Point Totals with apologies to the ETS Five who I remember, but did not want to screw up their names. But they aren't on the email anyway, for now. -- Ska)

TDDoC 2010 -- Day 1 Stats

Day 1, Firkin Tavern, West Trenton, NJ. Thurs, Dec. 9. Yes, yes, this is late!

What the firk? Pulling into the parking lot of this armpit of a strip mall, there is not a spot to be found. None in front, none around the side, none over on the other side. There is one way, way over there, in an area never before used by a customer in this toilet bowl of a strip mall. This firking TDDOC is already starting to tick me off.

Bad news quickly turns to good as inside the place is expectedly packed, but fortunately not with us old pathetic TDDOCers, but by boatloads of local college students. How can I tell? A booth for 4 with 2 extra chairs at the end, with 6 or 7 people crammed into it, all clearly drinking large glasses of the most translucent beer, aka cheapest, available. Optimistic hopes of wet t-shirt contests breaking out were dashed however. One of the college ladies was drinking a martini out of Scugi's favorite style of female martini glasses though (you'll have to ask him about it for more details).

Things begin to look up quickly as Gman flags me down with a yell of "Irish Nachos!". Irish Nachos at the Firkin are to me like crack is to Crack Pipe Larry. Delicious corned beef, cheese, some mystery stuff, and some other mystery stuff, and some stuff I'm not sure what it is
over top of some burned chips. Yes, as delicious as it sounds. I can't explain it, but those Irish really know their nachos. Yo proclaims that the Irish stew is the finest, but who wants to eat something with easily identifiable ingredients?

The Newcastle girls are in the house giving away glasses, t-shirts, dog tags, and rubdowns for free. Well, only some got the rubdowns. Actually most of the rest wasn't free either unless you actually bought a Newcastle, unless you are named Yo and have enough Mojo to nail a t-shirt without making a purchase. Being the fine competitive shopper that Gman is, he ends up without about 20 Newcastle glasses. Next time you're having formal dinner at the Williams household, guess what you'll be drinking your water, wine, and after-dinner cordial out of?

Early discussions of plans for Day 12 break out. Gman's claims of being able to defeat Russ in a 100-unit* dash are met with Russ self-pounding his chest and breaking a beer bottle over his own head. Russ makes plans to show up early that day at the Lawrenceville High School track oval. Huh? As if this is a legitimate athletic endeavour. Much more likely, as Day 12 the past few years has been at Wildflowers on Pennington Circle, is a dash around the Pennington circle after a pre-agreed number of drinks. Note, if you plan to attend Day 12, please bring a lot of orange cones as we will need them to help block off traffic from the circle during this blessed event.

*Yard? Meter? Footcandle? I can't remember what was discussed

Tons of familiar faces roll in. Alba is back from her rookie year of 2009. Thank god our boorish behavior didn't scare her into not returning. Celeste is as well. Can we actually be getting less boorish? That question will be answered quickly by Pods, as he strolls in, mutters something about social butterflies, and immediately punches a hole in the wall. Noticing that the hole in the wall is reminiscent of the Newcastle beer icon, he is quickly rewarded with a free Newcastle t-shirt. Wait, that may be more bore-ish.

Another heartwarming moment develops as Bobo and Big Lou share a plate of nachos, with Bobo nudging the last chip with his nose to Big Lou's side of the plate when done. I had no idea what a big fan of Lady and the Tramp that Bobo was.

Scugi orders a burger. It looks delicious. Before his first bite, I ask "you eatin' dat?". New TDDOC tradition. I later eat some quesadillas filled with chili. Absolutely atrocious and I'd highly recommend never trying that. Ever. Why not Irish nacho quesadillas?

Antlers were provided by the PA chapter. I believe that there may have been some bucking of antlers, accompanied by some very very painful camera work. Does the term "point and shoot" really apply? It always looked so easy on those Ashton Kutcher commercials.

Wait, someone's missing....someone obvious....who is it? Who? Some people that usually attend both Pa and NJ chapter events? Who, who could it be? Wait, is that a hockey game on the TV? Huh, interesting. Wait, what were we talking about again?

My night concludes with a rousing shuffleboard competition, one in which I pledge to be part, then try to duck out of. Sharon and my teammate (OK, it was late and I've lost track of his name) peer pressure me back in, and fortunately so, as my extensive recent work with sawdust enabled me to lead my team to a rousing victory. In future TDDOC days I will push hard to avoid any place with shuffleboard, so I can be assured of finishing the season undefeated.

Day 2 will be held at the Dublin Square in Bordentown NJ. I won't bother to provide directions or a website, as I write these stats late and Day 2 has shamefully already happened. Oh, OK, for old times' sake, here it is:

14th Annual TDDoC Begins Dec. 9th

Ahhhhh, darkness at 4:30, freezing cold air, the sweet melodies of frequent noseblows, and inescapable Christmas music in every nook and cranny of the face of the earth....it must mean....it's time for....

THE 14th ANNUAL (EXCEPT 1998) FESTIVAL OF.....THE TWELVE DRINKING DAYS OF CHRISTMAS (TDDoC)!!! This year's theme (once again) is the economy. What could be more American than coming to a bar and spending your money on American alcoholic liquids and putting hops growers, potato growers, and grape stompers across the US back to work? Caution….some of those alcoholic liquids have been produced by non-American companies in France. Please discourage your co-revelers from drinking non-American.

START DATE: THURSDAY, DEC 9

LOCATION: Firkin' Tavern, West Trenton, NJ (a hop skip but no jump from route 1 corridor), www.firkintavern.com. Legendary traditional (in other words, really lame) Day 1 spot Charlie Brown's is now closed due to repair or perhaps bankruptcy due to all of the raisin bread stolen from the salad bar over the years by Crack Pipe Larry. Rejoice that the Day 1 location has been chosen and advertised this early. This will be the last time during this event that you will be this happy.

Now for the details. For those that are new to the TDDoC, I've included the following Guidelines. For those that are familiar with the TDDoC format, you may still want to re-acquaint yourself. It's not as easy as riding a bike. It's almost as easy as drinking, but not quite.

Guidelines

1. For the purpose of the Festival, working days in which you could drink AFTER WORK are considered "Drinking Days". (I know that the term "Drinking Days" causes some controversy every year as it is easily and often argued that every day is a "Drinking Day"). Traditionally the Festival begins on the date that allows 12 "Drinking Days" to occur prior to Christmas Day - This year it's the 9th of December. Unlike other chapters throughout the country (especially those in the greater San Jose area and west of the Delaware River in general), there will be no special exceptions due to plant closings, postal holidays, moon/earth alignments or other such nonsense. The twelfth day of the event will as always occur on Dec. 24.

2. Attendance is scored by showing up and drinking with your friends, colleagues, soon-to-be-friends, other peoples' neighbors, and assorted annoying bores. Any action to discourage someone from showing up simply because they have bad breath, poor eating manners, or are a pompous a$$ is severely frowned upon. This is good fodder for the stats (see guideline # 7). However, unwillingness to imbibe can of course be held as a strike against any otherwise worthy candidate. Agreeing to participate in an "a$$-off" is generally considered as a reasonable substitute for drinking, unless you are a man.

Tradition has it that there is a one-drink minimum to be awarded a Point. Anyone on travel during The 12 Days & gathering in the spirit of The 12 Days will, of course, be considered participants if they 1) are actually drinking and 2) submit Stats. Please note that the official TDDOC definition of "considered" is "not considered". Phoning in alone does not enable point awardance but is highly encouraged to aid the home team in stats preparation. Drinking by yourself does not count, and drinking with some casual loser work friend if that loser is not involved in the larger effort does not count either. If you want a point for drinking with that casual loser work friend, you will need to drag them out to multiple mainstream TDDOC events in order for your miserable time with them to count. Whoever has the highest Tally of Points on Day Twelve will be awarded a coveted TDDoC trophy, and, as always, be obligated to abuse those that fell short in their quest to be the champion for their lameness. Never mind that said trophy has NEVER been awarded. It sounds good on paper. Note that in lieu of said trophy, the ceremonial "knocking of the sconce" off the wall at the Day 12 location may be substituted.

Far and away the most significant value of the point system is to incur repeated heated discussions, fisticuffs, and "airing of the grievances". Please keep this in mind and argue about points that you "should have had" as often as possible. Another good source of argument is whether or not Mike Tyson was the greatest heavyweight champion ever. Please register for the debate with Gary C. Williams.

Penalty points: If a TDDOC member shall drive within 100 yards of the night's location on the way home without stopping, that member shall forfeit all points and be subject to at NUTKX (see section 8).

3. Any adult-beverages consumed outside these events (weekends, from the bottom-drawer at work, at breakfast.. .) is regarded as Practice for The 12 Days and will not be scored. However, as in any hard-core sporting event, practice is highly encouraged.

4. Events are to be held in a different pathetic central NJ (or perhaps other states, as long as they are east of the Delaware river) establishment each of The 12 Days. Suggestions for events at further-away locations are, as always, highly encouraged, and yet, as always, highly unlikely.

5. Invitees are by no means limited to those addressed in this initial distribution. This is an open invitation. Any stiff that you can drag out is more than welcome. Participants should also encourage breakout chapters in other sections of the country. Once again, the San Jose CA chapter will also be in full working order, and rumor has it that another chapter may have been chartered west of the Delaware. Unfortunately, due to complications from Sarbanes-Oxley, the OJ Simpson legal trial, and public campaign for Congo the dog, the Dulles VA chapter, despite having received a $20 billion subsidy from the US government, still cannot square up on previous bar bills and is defunct.

6.Family events, work parties, watching Alf re-runs, having to "wash your hair" that night, removal of bodily organs (aka "the kidney card"), spending time with loved ones, being forced to move to Virginia, etc. are to be considered POOR excuses for missing TDDoC events. These may be important during other parts of the year but during the TDDoC festivities, please try to focus on what is really important, i.e. "Where are we drinking tonight?".

7. Which brings us to the daily Stats.
a) Stats are to be published the following day, with enough time to prepare for that day's event (i.e. before/during lunch), by an elected or forced stat-writer. This responsibility traditionally rotates between participants. Amendments and/or additions to the original published Stats are not only welcome but, in fact, encouraged (Different points of view can be awfully amusing). HOWEVER, rebuttals should stick to the general topic of TDDoC and the stats. Using the distribution list for sharing of personal jokes, "cool" youtube videos, and/or naked pictures of one's own butt are highly discouraged and the author will be placed on distribution for every internet junk e-mail list possible.
b)The Stats have generally been a free-form record - Including, but not limited to, the night's activities (should at least cover the basics, where when who etc), discussion topics (politics, sports, fashion, WHATEVER), liquids consumed (cooking/dipping oils and food condiment consumption are especially welcome here) and any patriotic songs sung. Generally, any photographic records of karaoke versions of "Darling Nikki" are highly discouraged.
c)Stats include an announcement/proposal as to where the next night's gathering is to be.
d)Stats include the running Point Tally.(stat writer's personal choice on whether points from the legendary Glenn Burtnick concert at Altamont in '69 should count or not)
e)Stats are an ideal forum to introduce Suggested Topics for that night's discussion. Throw out a topic or two you (the scribe) would like to see tabled during the night's activities. This of course may (and likely will) be completely ignored. Of course, if the word "scribe" is used at any point, you may risk being beat senseless with an empty beer bottle or an "Eman on a stick".
f)Stats of course need not be true!! Embellishment and downright manufacture of the details is highly encouraged!
g) Note: Use of the word "scribe" itself is highly discouraged in East Coast chapters. Please see (e) again.
H) One more thing: For the love of g0d, please do something stupid, loud, obnoxious or disgusting to help out your local stat writer with material.

8. WHYYY?? call: It is standard for the first person who shows at that night's event to vent their frustration from having to sit at the bar by themselves like a huge loser by calling another participant on their cell phone and yelling "WHY????" into the phone, which is of course short for "WHY am I drinking alone?". Per custom, it is encouraged to then hang up the phone prior to allowing the recipient of the phone call to respond in any manner. No special bonuses are awarded for this other than the personal satisfaction of taking out your societal anger on an unsuspecting other party. Anyone caught making a bogus "WHYYY??" call (NOT the first one at the bar, NOT alone at the bar, or NOT even at the bar) may be subjected to a "NUTKX", which is a Windows Vista software module which will provide the user with a swift kick to the privates upon next logon to work computer as punishment for violation of important social norms. NUTKX may also be provided manually by the recipient of the bogus WHYYY?? call or by the bartender. WHYYY???? text messages, facebook/twitter updates, and/or instant messages are similarly not acceptable and will quickly be faced with a stern poke in the chest from the tallest person in attendance.

9. Contests, competitions, shenanigans: Contests such as no-repeat beer quest (not repeating a brand/style of beer for the entire 12 days), no-repeat tequila shots, drinking your drink out of another's shoe, duels at 20 paces, and of course footraces are highly encouraged. No special points will be awarded for most "shushings" (i.e. being told by an old lady that you're too loud and need to quiet down).

10. Alleged celebrity sightings: Always encouraged, always highly unlikely. It is believed that there has been only a single alleged celebrity sighting in the history of the TDDoC: the alleged sighting of Lilleth from Cheers in the Main Street Bistro circa 1999. Please try for more, and if encountered do your best to engage them in either (1) drinking heavily or (2) mean-spirited fisticuffs.

11. Hard liquor of the day: The first person at the bar (or first person that cares to do so) is encouraged to name a hard liquor of the day, and all are encouraged to imbibe in said liquor at some point during the evening, be it in a mixed drink, shot, straight up, or pouring it over one's own head. Shouts of "ALRIGHT, WHERE'S THE HARD LIQUOR?" (copyright The TEH Foundation) should of course accompany said activity.

12. Pre-season: According to Tamps, there is no pre-season and no points for any efforts shall be awarded….according to Tamps. I'm just sayin'.

13. Privacy Notice: Any hopes of privacy are limited at best, and everyone is responsible for themselves (copyright the DT Foundation).

So, without further adieu, clear out your calendar and load up your office desk drawer with hangover remedies!!
