I'm A Dick
The only memorable e-mail written while at Americom...
The IT and Finance Departments have conducted a review of Printers/Copiers to investigate the increased amount of downtime and help tickets as well as to assist with Project 361 cost containment.
During research on the Printer/Copier Project, it was noted that there is a significant price difference between color and black/white copies. Color copies are 10¢ per copy, while black and white copies are 1¢ per copy (ten times more expensive to print in color). In addition, it appears that frequent replacement of color cartridges is a contributing factor to machine breakdowns.
Concurrent initiatives are underway to address these issues:
>> A new Printer/Copier policy (attached) will be implemented effective immediately. This policy promotes the use of technology over hard copies. It encourages black and white copies when paper is necessary.
>> Network printers will be defaulted to black and white on Friday, October 13, 2006.
>> Printer/Copier expenses and downtime will continue to be tracked to see if there are improvements after implementation of the new policy.
